How I found my passion…….

BlackCockatoo_56_web    In my 20s and early 30s my career decisions were based around what I thought I was capable of. When I had children I had to add to the mix that I knew I wanted to be at home with them.

We are an Attachment Parenting family, putting my kids in daycare and going to an office each day just wasn’t a fit for our family. So I knew I needed to work from home.

For years I settled for a business that I didn’t love and every morning I got up just a little bit more and more weary. I knew there had to be a better choice for me. I heard people talk about loving their careers but I never truly understood how that could be.

The journey for me meant I had to truly start to awaken to my own gifts and potential before I found my business. It was always there but it was buried under self doubt, societal conventions and limiting beliefs.

I love writing, I have the gift of being able to tell a story in both my own voice and someone else’s. It wasn’t until this year that I realised writing is more than just grammar and spelling. It is the ability to weave a compelling tale. I would write even if I won lotto and didn’t have to work, it’s so much a part of how I express myself.

The other day I was chatting to a friend. I happened to be holding some Woolies character cards. After a few minutes she turned to me in surprise – “did you just order those numerically while we were talking??” Yes, apparently I did! I didn’t do it on purpose but numbers live in my head, it was a completely unconscious thing.

I love the rules attached to numbers, they are either right or wrong. If they are wrong then it’s the fun game of “work out how the Balance Sheet balances”. Bookkeeping is a natural field for me – I am good at it and it is enjoyable. I love that I can take an area that causes small business owner headaches and just get it done.

I have been called the “Goddess of VA’s” and had clients tell me they no longer feel like they are doing it all alone. I love this, my ideal client is the one who I can help shoulder the load. Who I can take all the little tasks off her hands so she can go ahead and do amazing work.Coffee Love_The Hatch (7)

The fact that I can do this from my office in the place I love is an added bonus. I love being able to stop work for a coffee (proper coffee not instant!) or to meet my kids needs. I also love that if a client needs me I can generally be available straight away because of the flexibility of our days.

There are times I sneak off to the library and work in the quiet. I am blessed to have a wonderful husband who shoulders the parenting responsibility of our 2 boys. He knows that my business is just as important as his job and together we are creating a life that is connected with nature and our community.

Finally I have the lifestyle I was craving. My business centred around all the things I love, I can continue to be with my boys and homeschool them in the future and I can put my piece of positive energy out into the world.

I would love to help support your business and tailor a package that would suit you. Contact me today for a free discovery session on how we can work together.
